I would give this book a rating of 4 out of 10. I would not consider this to be the best Danielle's must reads. What I did like about the book is that it was very similar to the illustrations of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. It was a beautiful picture book and the colors were pleasing to the eye. The relationship between Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare is very similar to the relationship of a mother and their child. This story could be very appealing to families and can be very nostalgic for parents. The problem in the book was the way it was written. The language seemed to be too dense for the board book age group. I feel that the board book does do a good job talking about the growth of a child;however, I do feel it might be confusing concept for children that age. Is there any animosity between the animals in discovering one another?
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly there is not! The animals are running away from Little Nutbrown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare. It is funny they talk about the animals while they walk away!
ReplyDeleteI did not know there were more of these. The "Guess How Much I love You?" book is so popular that it makes sense there were more books published with the same characters.
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed that this didn't get a good review! I LOVE Guess How Much I Love You, so I would hope that the author would have consistently great books. That happened with one of my authors though, where she wrote one really good board book and one not so good book! I guess it happens that way sometimes.
